Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between hand squeeze strength and hand reaction speed with short-serve skills in badminton games. This research includes type of descriptive research. The population of this study were all male students at Pesantren Sultan Hasanuddin, with a total sample of 40 people selected by random sampling. The data analysis technique used is the correlation analysis technique using the SPSS Version 22.00 system at a significant level of 95% or a0,05. Starting from the results of data analysis, this study concluded that: (1) there is a significant relationship between hand grip strength and short serve ability in badminton games, proven ro = 0.702 (P = 0.000 < a0.05); (2) there is a significant relationship between hand reaction speed and short serve ability in badminton games, proven ro = -0.844 (P = 0.000 < a0.05); and (3) there is a significant relationship between hand squeeze strength and hand reaction speed with short serve ability in a badminton game, proven Ro = 0.876 (P = 0.000 < a0.05).
